MODERN COUTURE EXHIBITION: FASHION AS ART

An exhibition of designers´ dresses entitled “Modern Couture” was held during Belarus Fashion Week, 12-14th of April. Leading Belarusian brands and designers exhibited their unique handmade dresses to a wide audience in order to confute the opinion that there is no place for Haute Couture in Belarus.

This exhibition took place for the first time in Belarus led by the head of Belarus Fashion Week Yanina Hancharova. The exhibition was located in the guest hall, where visitors of the shows could see and appreciate the exhibits. All the designers-participants are members of Belarus Fashion Council: Alena Goretskaya, Tamara Horidovets, Marina, Olga and Elena Parfenovich (Parfenovich sisters), Olga Starostina, Evlin Obeid Yusef, Olga Deyko, Inna Nekhoda and Alexander Kirinyuk.

Parfenovich Sisters (Marina, Olga and Elena) created five exclusive dresses. Each of the sisters has prepared her own outfit for the exhibition. All of the dresses, united by a single theme, stood out for the individual handwriting of fashion designers. Olga Starostina presented a handmade dress created in the technique of old Irish lace. Pieces made in such a technique can not be repeated because of the specifity of producing the lace.

EVOSHKA STYLE brand designer Evlin Obeid Yusef prepared two impressive Gatsby-style dresses. Black dresses embroidered with sequins, fur and other decorations were full of the spirit of the 20s of the last century - the time of parties, women´s rights and boom of creativity.

Papilio brand provided for the exposition a gentle dress in pastel colours, embroidered with flowers and soft tulle. A gown with a long tail and open shoulders is the sample of femininity.

Olga Deyko, designer of Blackberry brand, created an airy, magnificent dress in shades of pink. The source of inspiration was the colour of the sky before sunset: the tulle skirt shimmered from powder colour to smoky grey shade. The final accent was a sparkling multi-layered basque. Inna Nekhoda was the only author of the dresses in ethnic style. The designer has made snow-white dresses in a minimalistic style, decorated with a “Pavloposad” pattern.

Tamara Horidovets chose a semi-transparent multi-layered dress for the exposition. The designer worked with various fabrics and textures, and the result of this work was a dress with a proud title "haute couture."

Famous make-up artist Alexander Kirinyuk, in addition to working with Mary Kay® team in framework of fashion week, also took part in the couture exhibition, presenting two dresses: gradient-golden dress and evening gown with transparent details.

Fashion-exhibition “Modern Couture” was the first step in making the image of Belarusian high fashion and drawing attention to designers´ ideas and craftsmanship. The main goal of the exhibition is to form the right attitude towards the choice of clothes for special occasions! Partner of the project - Guardo agency.
