On April 24-29, 2012 the 4th edition of the main professional event in the world of Belarusian fashion - Belarus Fashion Week - took place in Minsk. This season it was conducted with the support of the general partner of the project - shoes company “Marko” (www.marko.by), the largest manufacturer of high quality men's, women's and children's shoes.

The leading Belarusian designers presented their collections “Fall-Winter 2012/2013” on the runway of Belarus Fashion Week by Marko: FUR GARDEN, Tarakanova, Harydavets&Efremova, BOITSIK, Davidova, Historia Naturalis, Kucherenko, TSU RAN, Sisters Parfenovich, Svetlana Todorskaya, O. Jen, VARASHKEVICH, Nataliya Gaidarzhi and others.

 The guests of this season were the designers from Russia (brands “I Am” (Dasha Samkovich), Nastya Makkey,  Lat’el, Diana Pavlovskaya, Dasha Gauser), Georgia (Tinatin Magalashvili and Madonna), and Lucja Wojtala - a representative from Fashion Week Poland.

In addition to the major runway shows of designer clothes, Belarus Fashion Week by Marko hosted other BFW side-projects.

The finale of the young designer contest “New Names BFW” traditionally took its place within the frameworks of Belarus Fashion Week by Marko. This season’s partner was Orsha Linen Mill (“Беларускi Лён”) – the company whish is worldwide known for the quality of its products. The competent jury, consisted of the famous designers, fashion experts, professors and the representatives of the linen mill, has chosen 2 winners – Valentina Neborskaya and Elena Pleskach – who will start creating the collections for the enterprise in the nearest future. What’s more, next season they will present their capsule collections on the runways of Belarus Fashion Week and Istanbul Fashion Week.

The charity event Kids Fashion BFW was conducted in the form of presentation of the brands “Orange Camel” and “Inzhel”. The special guests of the action were the inmates of the state educational institution “Vetrinskaya basic boarding school of Polotsk region”. They received nice presents from the partners of the project – “Spartak”, “8 Marta”, Belpromenergiya, “Onega” and “Dolina Zlakov”. The shining eyes of the children became the best proof of the necessity of such events. Also within the frameworks of Kids Fashion BFW in cooperation with the Fund “Touch of Life” we organized a fundraiser for a seriously-ill child – Valiev Ali El’shad Ogly.

The pioneering side-project of the season became the contest of fashion-bloggers and young journalists Fashion Blog Competition with 8 independent and unique participants. During 3 weeks they were describing the work of the Fashion Week in details, fulfilling the contest tasks and striving for the main prize – a trip to Mercedes-Benz Kiev Fashion Days in October 2012. The jury has unanimously chosen Maya Starovojtova for the winner of Fashion Blog Competition. The informational partner of the project was an Internet-portal KYKY.org, which organized its own nomination. Olga Kovtunenko received an interesting book about fashion as the winner of this nomination.

In contrast to the previous season, this time Showroom BFW became the joint activity of two creative groups – BFW Organizing Committee (in the persons of clothes, footwear and accessories designers) and Open Skaf group (a “cultural” flea market). This exact combination helped to cover a larger target audience by presenting different kinds of fashion.

The days of April 24-26 were lighted up by the interesting program of Fashion Study Centre BFW. This season’s educational program included a number of famous international guests - Yvan Rodic (Great Britain) and Marcellous Jones (France), – who shared with the Belarusian audience the secrets of international Media relations. Not less interesting were the lectures by our guests from the near abroad: Dasha Gauser (Russia) dwelled upon the peculiarities of designer brand promotion in Russia; Ana Varava and Nataliya Luk’yanets (Ukraine) presented to the public a detailed analysis of the fashion magazine’s work and all the possible variants of cooperation between designers and the Mass Media.

This season of the Fashion Week was held in close collaboration with partners at the local level. The grand party to celebrate the close of BFW by Marko FW 2012/13 took place at the Robinson Club, where the BFW guests were also welcomed to stay during the Week. All guests and friends of Belarus Fashion Week by Marko received stylish souvenirs from the design studio “Makey” and the creative team “Farby Dushi”, as well as sweet presents from the confiserie «Plaisir».

In FW 2012/13 season the creative partners of Belarus Fashion Week by Marko were MAYBELLINE New York, MATRIX and Beauty House “Musson”.

The Organizing Committee BFW would like to thank the successful Belarusian companies (RUPTE “Orsha linen mill”, “SUKNO” public corporation and OJSC “Kamvol”), which supported the designers in creating their collections and promoting the brands.
